STAFF ACCOUNTANT
This position is responsible for assisting in safeguarding the assets of the company through account analysis and regular monitoring of financial transactions. The position is responsible for ensuring the financial transactions in assigned general ledger accounts are recorded in the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This role also works with other staff to assist in their understanding of accounting principles and practices in general ledger accounts assigned to the staff accountant. Responsibilities include implementation and maintenance of financial software and revenue recognition process. Ensuring that all financial modules meet the revenue recognition process for the organization. Collaboration with IT and finance staff to meet business requirements and may be responsible for end user training. Ensuring that consistent practices are used throughout the company to maintain the integrity of the systems. Familiarity with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts. Relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position reports to the Controller and manages 0 direct reports.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensuring proper revenue recognition.
- Reviewing commission and rebate calculations.
- Maintaining and monitoring monthly account analysis and reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts and resolving reconciling items and issues noted in a timely manner.
- Preparing, reviewing and uploading monthly journal entries for month-end close.
- Reviewing, documenting and resolving variances in monthly preliminary Financial Statements prior to distribution.
- Assisting with implementation of new ERP system – Infor Cloud Suite Distribution.
- Preparing various audit schedules as requested.
- Creating and maintaining key process flows related to position.
- Functioning as interdepartmental liaison in regard to accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company regulations and standards, as well as any federal, state or local requirements.
- Special projects as assigned.
Job Specifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field is required.
- 4+ years of accounting experience.
- CPA certification is a plus but not required.
- Individual must be a technologically savvy accountant who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges. Specific technology knowledge and experience needed to produce the desired outcomes include the following:
Microsoft Office (particularly Access & Excel),
Familiarity with ERP software (Infor CloudSuite Distribution a plus),
Familiarity with reporting solutions from relational databases, such as Microsoft Power BI. - Strong command of business English.
